extraneous blank line occurs in outlook.com’s Sent folder

$

0

The outlook.com people determined that this is an Outlook bug.

Repro steps:

In Outlook 2013 and Win 7, start a new message (where the format is Rich Text).  Type the following text into the message:

“This is text.  Now I’m going to press Enter once after the upcoming period.

And I now have a second line.  There is no white space (blank line) between these two lines of text, which is exactly how I like it.”

Copy and paste that text into a new outlook.com message (using IE 10).  Looks fine in the draft.  No white space between the lines.  Send that message.

After sending that message, go to the outlook.com Sent folder and look at the message.

Actual behavior:

The message appears with a white space (blank line) between the two lines of text.  This is not WYSIWYG.  Which, in turn, makes me wonder if that’s how the recipient sees it.  I don’t want the recipient to see a blank line between the two lines of text.

Expected behavior:

The Sent version of the message appears EXACTLY as it appeared when I clicked Send.

Additional info:

It happens on another computer (Win 8.1, IE 11, Outlook 2013) with the same Microsoft account.

Also, if I go to the outlook.com
Sent folder, select the test message in question, and click Forward, the resulting draft message will not have the blank line (that is, it appears
correctly).  If I click Send and then look at that message in the Sent folder, it will have the blank line.  Thus, there is no problem with
drafts (even a forwarding draft of the problematic message from the Sent folder).  It appears to be problematic only when viewing sent messages in
the Sent folder.

If I type the text directly into
outlook.com, there is no unwanted blank line in the Sent message.  That is, it works correctly.

Redirect e-mails in Outlook 2010

Hello,

I am trying to redirect my e-mails using an old .pop account via outlook 2010 (on PC 1) to an @outlook.com account using outlook 2013 (on PC 2)

I have followed the redirect tutorial on this site by creating a rule and it works, thank you. However, when I turn off PC 1, the redirect no longer works. I will be out of the country and therefore will not have access to PC1. At present, this means the redirect to PC 2 will not work as PC 1 will not be turned on.

Please advise how I can redirect my e-mails from PC 1 to PC 2 without having to turn PC 1 on.

Many thanks

Simon

Outlook 2010 slow, hangs up

Outlook 2010 win 8.1. I have followed all of the suggestions in knowledgebase article for this situation.

I even re-installed Office 2010, hoping to start working with a new .pst file, but it came up with the old ones!

I have repaired the .psts etc.

I have 6 .pst's including Archive: I only get activity on two tho: Outllok.pst and my email address.pst.

I cannot change the location of the "my email address.pst": Change option on Account Setup does not allow change.

I've been fooling with this for a few weeks.

Any help greatly appreciated!!!

Unable to search in any other than first email account

I've recently upgraded from 2010 to 2013.

I have two IMAP accounts, and have always been able to search them separately.

I can still search the first account on its own but not the second account - I can only search it via the search box on the first account, and choose 'all mailboxes'. This of course means that I have to search both in order to find something on the second which is really frustrating.

Can anyone assist?

Many thanks,

Simon

Mail marked as 'read' or replied to changes back to 'unread'

I have recently upgraded from 2010 to 2013 and have hit a strange issue.

Some messages behave as you would expect, but now and then I notice that a message I have replied to remains as 'unread' in my inbox.

I then right click and 'mark as read' - sometimes the message doesn't even change to 'read'; and at other times it changes, but then after a few seconds changes back to 'unread'.

It's beginning to drive me nuts - any help much appreciated.

Many thanks,

Simon

Difficulty Syncing Outlook 2013 calendar to Windows Phone

$

I have written in several times attempting to resolve a problem with syncing my husband's Outlook 2013 calendar to his Windows Phone 8.1. He has had an msn.com email account for several years, although he does not use this account as his primary email account. Instead, he uses a yahoo.com account as his primary email account. (I don't know if that is complicating things.)

In order to get his Outlook 2013 calendar on to his phone, I knew I had to get the Outlook calendar appointments onto his msn.com account. I followed the directions for "syncing your Outlook calendar to Windows Phone" by selecting "Exchange ActiveSync". I was able to successfully add his msn account to Outlook 2013 in order to get his Outlook calendar on to his phone. The problem is that the appointment descriptions show up as "Out of Office" instead of the actual appointment descriptions. When he created the appointments initially in Outlook 2013, he categorized them as "Out of Office". Even when changing the category to "Busy", they still show up on the phone and the computer as "Out of Office".

Is there any way to tell if these appointments were inadvertently labeled as Private? Could this be causing the appointment descriptions to show up as "Out of Office".

Furthermore, it appears as though there is some disconnect between the Outlook 2013 calendar and the msn.com calendar. When entering a new appointment directly on the msn.com calendar, it shows up perfectly, both on the phone and the computer. However, when entering a new appointment on the Outlook 2013 calendar, it doesn't show up at all either on the msn.com calendar on the computer nor on the phone. It obviously is not syncing automatically.

I've been trying for weeks to resolve this problem and I'm about to give up. Thanks.

Outlook 2013 Signature Appearance in Reply or Forwarding Email

I have set up a signature in Outlook 2013, but when I hit reply or forward, the signature just appears as ordinary text and not in the style, color or size that I set the signature in.  Was wondering how I correct this or what I'm doing wrong.

Thanks.

Outlook 2013: To-Do Bar turns off after Outlook 2013 crash.

$

I have encountered what seems to be a bug with Outlook 2013.

First off, configuration:

Windows 7 64-bit and Windows 8 64-bit

Outlook 2013 installed as part of Office Professional Plus 2013

Lync 2013 installed and connected to Exchange server

Outlook 2013 profile connected to Exchange server

Background:

I have the To-Do Bar enabled with Calendar and Tasks. This bar stays visible and persistent through opening and closing Outlook.

Scenario:

When Outlook hangs - and this can happen randomly when creating a new message - and then I choose the option to restart Outlook, when Outlook does restart, the To-Do Bar is not enabled and then I have to re-enable the Bar. The Bar is again sticky until another hang/crash occurs.

I'd like to resolve two things:

1. Allow the To-Do Bar to be enabled as per user preference after a hang/crash.

2. Address the Outlook hang.

I would love indicate what is causing the hang/crash and indicate the steps required to reproduce it, but I'm not entirely sure. I received a notice once that the Lync add-in caused the crash and was disabled after Outlook restarted. However I re-enabled the add-in and haven't seen that add-in warning since - it's been at least a few weeks. The hang/crash occurs at least once a week and doesn't log anything in the application event log. My computer has all the latest updates as well.

These are my enabled add-ons:

Calender Sync issue from outlook to outlook.com Network operation failed

Hi

I have been using outlook.com with the connector and have no issues with my office computer, laptop and blackberry all syncing happily since starting over a year ago.

However today I noticed the calendar stopped syncing only on my main computer

I am on outlook 2007. All other devices sync to outlook.com no problem.

I have already deleted the account, deleted the .ost files then reinstalled outlook connector and re added the account but the problem remains.

After above steps All emails and contacts come back (after an hour download) but nothing for calendar. I do notice that the default calendar colour does change from pink to blue (outlook.com chosen colour) so I presume it does sync something....however no calendar entries and the calendar remains blank. As mentioned the emails due to attachments etc take a while to come through and there is no error report (only connecting status) until near the end of the total overall sync, meantime months of emails and contacts steadily pour in until complete then I get the calendar sync error message.

Can you help please !

When I opened Outlook today, there was a prompt, Microsoft Office cannot verify the license for this product.  You should repair the Office program by using control panel.  At the top was a red bar with my email address followed by Outlook unlicensed product. Accessing the control panel offered no solution to the problem.  I cannot reply to items in my inbox.  Any solutions?  Gordie Woods

When sending email from a generated addind or Lync Online "Client Operation failed"

$

We have 2 issues :

1 - Is that when creating online meeting from Online mode (Outlook 2010 and Outlook 2013 client) we get after sending the online meeting "Client Operation Failed".

2 - is different : when composing after click from a Word Addin. same error msg "Client Operation" failed.

All 2 issues are solved when using or change the policy to Cached mode.

more info:

unable to send Lync meetings using Outlook (different versions, either 2010 or 2013) in online mode. I work fine in cached mode and also in OWA. Once I try to send the meeting invite, the following error is displayed: "Client Operation failed". Also, the issue only occurs for one OU, as for another the issue cannot be reproduced. Currently, the users are using as a workaround: creating an online meeting, copying the details from the body of the appointment into a normal email and send it out as an usual email.

could you please help?

We use Outlook 2010 and 2013 Client (but we are O365 cloud connectivity users)

Create a search folder filtered on an email address or domain

$

I'm trying to create a search folder in Outlook 2013 to show all mail to or from a company e.g. @company.com.  I'm having limited success as Outlook seems hard wired to use Display Name which is different depending on the source of the email.

For example I can send an email to a recipient at @company.com e.g. joe.bloggs[at]company.com which has a Display Name of 'Joe Bloggs <joe.bloggs[at]company.com' however incoming messages often just have a display name of 'Joe Bloggs' or 'Bloggs, Joe'.  The search filter doesn't these derivatives up which is massively frustrating.

I have also tried using the advanced filter but this appears to use Display Name too i.e. it does not find the derivatives.  Am I missing something here or is a simple filter by actual email address missing from Outlook?

Outlook 2013 Missing Window pains and Blank Emails.

I am experiencing great difficulty with Outlook 2013 i am running Office 2013 x86 Professional Plus Outlook Product version 15.0.4615.1000 on Windows 8.1 Fully Patched to date of logging this.

now numerous users had this issue and the thread was answered by ticking the option to Disable Graphics Hardware Acceleration i now have one individual user that continues to experience this issue.

she is running the details as above we have updated the Intel Graphics Drivers to the latest version and still the issue exists restarting outlook when the issue occurs temporarily fixes the issue until it needs to be restarted again which can be random but seems to be greater than 4 hours.

the issue is similar to the below image but runs through the Ribbon bar and the Email Body and below KB article i have ran through it and the KB update is not installed.

Zoom in notes field of outlook contacts

$

Help - I tried to paste a graphic into the notes field in one of my contacts, (which I have done many times before), and it has zoomed my notes field out so much that all the text is all but invisible

I'm using Home & Business 2010, and tried the repair facility in the control panel / programs, but that didn't help.

Now all the notes I have written are still there, but so tiny, they all appear in the top left cm of the notes field

Anyone know how to reset that ??
