Microsoft Outlook will not open

Microsoft Outlook will not open. Keeps giving the message "We're sorry, but Outlook has run into an error that is preventing it from working correctly. Outlook will need to be closed as a result. Would you like us to repair now?"

I've tried everything, even uninstalling and reinstalling.

Same issues.

All other Office 365 apps work fine...just Outlook is having problems.

HELP?

Hi. I have the desktop version of Outlook. I use an email address from Yahoo and keep my emails on the server for long periods of time. Today, I received duplicates of all my emails from the server. My question is, did the server do this or did Outlook re download for some reason? Thanks in advance.

Outlook 2013 Creating Duplicate Contacts--I'm Not On Lync

My MS Outlook 2013 is creating duplicate contacts. I have read threads on those having these issues when using Lync. I never connected to Lync when I installed Office 2013, but am still getting duplicate contacts. Outlook will not allow me to delete these duplicate contacts. The duplicate contacts only have the contact's name and no other information.

Here is the weird thing that is happening and why I need to delete these duplicates. When I receive an email from someone who included multiple recipients, when I "Reply to All," if one of those recipients is one of my duplicated contacts, then that recipient does not receive my reply to the email. Instead, I receive an email notification stating that the person is an invalid recipient...in other words, the duplicated contact cannot receive my replies. Now, if I send the original email, then there are no problems.

How do I delete these duplicated contacts when I have never connected to Lync?

Umlauts invisible in arriving e-mails

Since I don't know when, the arriving e-mails are rendered with spaces in lieu of the umlauts. The format is plain text.

I don't find any setting in the options to fix that. What can I do?

Send and Receive Problem

I have recently installed Outlook (part of the Office 365 package) on my laptop running Windows 8.1. Having manually setup an account I am having a problem every time I start Outlook in that it appears to be downloading old mails from months ago that I have read and deleted on another computer. A progress bar at the bottom of the screen advises how many mails it is downloading but when finished nothing appears and the program freezes. I have to resort to forcing Outlook to close (Task Manager) and then restarting. When it opens the mails it last downloaded are now visible but it then begins downloading more old mails.

Can you please advise if I am doing something wrong

Outlook Settings

Hello All,

Please help!!

I purchased a new laptop one week ago that has Windows 8.1 pre-installed.  I have downloaded the 30 day trial of Office 365.

When I started Outlook account settings I selected Exchange server instead of Internet and now I want to go back and change from Exchange server to Internet but i can't see any option that can take me back to select Internet so I uninstalled Office 365 and installed it again but its still coming with the same Exchange server user settings.

Thanks

Unable to synchronize MS Outlook with iPad & iPhone since installing Office 365.

I have recently installed Office 365.  I can access documents, etc on my iPhone & iPad, but I am unable to sync the Calendar on these devices (which are sync'd via iTunes) with my MS Outlook Calendar.  Prior to installing Office 365, I had no problems doing this.

Any suggestions to eliminate the issue would be welcomed.

Why are emails in public folders being marked as read when viewed in the viewing pane when I have disabled this in settings

Hi

I am using office 2010 on a windows 7 PC. In outlook I have changed the settings for the reading pane so that emails are not marked as read unless I actually open them. This is working for emails in my inbox and outbox but not for emails in public folders. Emails in public folders are marked as read as soon as I click on them. Do public folders have a different setting for marking email as read in the reading pane?

It is important for me that emails in the public folders are not marked as read when i click on them as I need to read through hundreds of project emails in these folders and need to be able to distinguish between emails I have read and actioned and emails I have just clicked on while searching for an email I need. This folder serves as an archive for my emails so i cant delete them once I have read them. I also don't have permission to label them or create tasks from them.

Outlook data file not recognized as an outlook data file

Recently, my computer ran out of memory so it could no longer save to my account's Outlook data file. Now that I've removed a lot of files and there's plenty of space on my computer, I've tried to load the files and the files do not load. There are a bunch of errors which I've listed below...

 Here are some background details:

  • Using Outlook 2010 on Windows 8 Enterprise
  • My setup is rather interesting. I have a number of email accounts (1 Exchange, 1 Gmail, and 2 Hotmail) and consolidate all of the emails into an "All Inbox" folder in my main hotmail email account. There's also an "All Sent" folder.

Here's the timeline -

  • Computer ran out of memory
  • Popups from Outlook (?) and Windows
  • I remove some old files and there's space again
  • However, the 'Data Files' tab under 'Account Settings' lists BOTH hotmail accounts (yes, both the main email account with the consolidated emails and just another hotmail account) with having 'Not Available' as their data file.
  • When I try to load the old Outlook data file, it automatically has an open dialogue window with an automatic filter for Outlook data files, but doesn't recognize the old Outlook data file as an Outlook data file.
  • I change the filter to "All Files" and open it anyways, which gives me the error message that "hotmail.ost is not an Outlook data file"
  • I've tried SCANPST.exe, which after scanning says there's 64 errors. I click 'Repair', it repairs, gives me a popup window that says 'Repair complete' However, the file still isn't recognized by Outlook and when I run SCANPST.exe again, it detects those same 64 errors.
  • I've checked that OUTLOOK.EXE does not have 'Compatibility' checked, nor do any of the data files have 'Read-only' checked.

Any help?

Outlook Forwarding Problem

When I forward an email that had email addresses listed as names, instead of email addresses - those addresses can not be accessed by the recipient.

Is there a setting I need to change in order for the recipient to be able to access those addresses?

Outlook 2013 not properly syncing outlook.com Calendar

Split from this thread.

I have outlook calendar in outlook 2013. Stopped syncing last week. Tried clean reboot. Tried reinstalling. Still not working. I have spent double digit hours on this. I have looked to install icloud along with other workarounds. Nothing in surface store. Left on hold for about 45 minutes with Microsoft support. Current workaround is sending all events to outlook.com email and then moving to outlook.com calendar.

Thank you. Outlook 2013 not properly syncing outlook.com Calendar

How can I save Multiple Attachments from Multiple e-mail messages with one save? (Office 2013)

I do know that you can save multiple attachments within a single email message.

But can you save multiple attachments across multiple e-mail messages -- with a single command?

Is there a way around this problem?

I have a huge amount of attachments to save, and I simply can not do this message by message, one at a time.

Thanks,

Werner

Outlook 2013 does not import contacts' subfolders from .pst

Dear all,

I faced a strange problem today with importing contacts in Outlook 2013 via .pst file.

I used to have Office 2010 and I changed it about a month ago. I exported my contacts to a .pst file and then successfully imported in the new Outlook.

Yesterday I had to reinstall Windows 7 because of new hardware (much faster now, btw). Hence I installed Office Standard 2013 to the new 64-bit Win. Then I tried to import my old contacts from the old .pst file that I am still keeping.

For my surprise the subfolders are not being imported. Which is disaster since 95% of my contacts are sorted in subfolders of the "Contacts" folder. And I tried tens of times, I changed options (replace or do not replace duplicates) and I am sure that I checked on "Include subfolders". No success.

In the preview which is on this step I see the subfolders. So they are there - it is not that they were not exported or something like that.

Please, anyone, if you know what might be the problem help me.

I suspect that these folders are actually successfully imported but for some reason are not shown in the "Contacts". I see the subfolders in the "Folders" section but not in "Contacts".

Thank you in advance!

Hi there,

I've just signed up for the Office 365 software.  I was wondering if there is a way to make sure I always have a backup of PST file on my OneDrive account? - Its just as a backup if my local version ever crashes with Appointments/contacts etc.

--OR-- is there a way to do exactly the same thing *backup my outlook data with some new fandangled way that Microsoft have developed ;)

Thanks ;)

Office 365 Outlook 2013 doesn't show the correct time zone for a birthday

The Birthday I enter for a contact in People.live.com for March 24, 1988, displays properly as re-occurring from 12:00AM on March 24 to 12:00AM on March 25 in my Birthday Calendar at Calendar.live.com, but displays in my Office 365 Outlook 2013 Calendar as re-occurring from 1:00AM on March 24 to 1:00AM on March 25.  When I enter a Test Birthday in People.live.com for March 24, 2014, however, my Office 365 Outlook 2013 Calendar properly displays that Birthday as re-occurring only on March 24 (beginning at 12:00AM on March 24 and ending at 12:00AM on March 25).

My PC, my Microsoft Account and my Calendar.live.com account are all set for the Time Zone UST -5:00 United States Eastern.

I had presented this issue in the Outlook.com Community, and was told to present the issue in the Office 365 Outlook 2013 Community.

Your assistance would be appreciated.

Outlook can't see new files when choosing 'attach', but I can see the files in file explorer.

Here's the scenario.  I create, save or copy a document to my c: drive.  I can see the file in file explorer and when using something like word or excel to open the document.  When I use outlook, open a new email to send and try to attach the file, I can't see it the folder.  In fact, I can't see any new files that were created in the last few weeks.  It's almost as if Outlook is looking at an old folder structure.  Again, I can see the files in file explorer, but not when I try to attach the file in outlook.  Please help me resolve this issue.
