Cannot save new outlook contacts or access Global Address Book

$

I have outlook 2007 connected via VPN to exchange server.  I can

1) Send and receive emails

2) Edit contacts that have already been created some time ago

3) Copy and paste existing contacts

However, when I try and save a new contact it says the Microsoft exchange server is not available. I am connected because I am showing as connected and contacts created via the outlook web app appear almost immediately in my Outlook.  However, I cannot save any edits to these but can copy and paste as a whole record.

Also, I cannot access the Global Address Book at all.

Does anyone know what the problem could be?

Thanks

Zeze

Macro in outlook to send reply

I have a macro which works perfectly so far. However the last thing i need to it to do is open an email in reply.
The macro currently copies the text of an email into a calendar appointment and saves and closes it.
I need the macro to then go back to the original email and open a reply mail.
Is that possible?

I am receiving the below sync issues with my hotmail account and outlook 2010. I just created this email account 5 days ago, and I mainly just want to use it for the calendar. I want my calendar to sync online. Any time I change a calendar event, I go to send/receive and I get sync issues.

Can I get the Limit of 500 recipients per day in Office 365 Increased?

I understand that Office 365 limits you to a recipient list of 500 mails per day for a specific e-mail. If you have a distribution list, that list counts for 1 recipient.

I help run a local youth football club and about 6-7 times a year I need to send out a mailshot to just over 1000 recipients on important club issues such as tournaments etc. so that limit of 500 recipients per mail would be very inconvenient. I have heard that using something such as "Adfree Outlook Subscription" allows the limit to be increased but there isn't much information on that on the microsoft site . So:

  • Does anyone know if the subscription route would solve my problem - or
  • Is there a way of creating a distribution list by importing mail addresses from Excel - or
  • Is there a way of getting the 500 recipient limit increased

Any help would be appreciated

Prevent Send/Receive from creating Junk folders

Last week I uninstalled a Technet copy of Outlook 2013 and installed an Office 365 copy of Outlook 2013. (Clean 8.1 install) Now, Outlook 2013 creates new Junk Folders every time I run "Send/Receive All Folders." I thought the problem might have been one of the other IMAP clients but with all of them turned off, Send/Receive creates Junk Folders. Here are the steps to replicate the problem:

  1. Shut down Outlook 2013
  2. Using an ftp client, log on to the server and delete the /mail/{user}/.Junk directory (dovecot IMAP)
  3. Using mfcmapi, remove the /Root - Mailbox/IPM_SUBTREE/Inbox/Junk folder
  4. Run Outlook 2013 (nothing happens)
  5. Press Send/Receive
  6. Voila, the Junk folder reappears

This behavior did not occur with Technet Outlook 2013, but it does with Office 365 Outlook 2013 - Unfortunately, with Technet shut down, I can't go back to Technet any longer.

Why is this a problem? I have five IMAP email accounts and use Thunderbird in Mac and Linux environments. And Thunderbird shows all folders for each email account meaning I can't see all my emails in one screen - I have to scroll up and down - If the Junk folder weren't showing up, I could see all my email accounts in a single screen.

Any thoughts? Or Outlook 2013 configuration options?

Is it possible to send multiple individual email messages to Tumblr?

$

Using Outlook 2010.  Is it possible to send for example, say 50 pictures to Tumblr all individually?  I know I can create a single email and attach the 50 pictures, but, firstly Tumblr only allows a maximum of 10 pictures per post and I want all the pictures uploaded in the same post.   The only way around this is to post all 50 pictures individually.  As you can imagine, this takes a long time to do it this way!  If I select all 50 pictures and choose to email them, Outlook will attach all 50 pictures in one single email and this isn't what I want.  I want to create 50 individual emails, each email will have 1 picture attached to it and send them all at once.  Can this be done?

Password request pops up for an old account

This one's a bit unique. Here is the situation:

*  Outlook 2010 on Windows 7 machine

*  Outlook is successfully connected to Office 365 outlook account, *** Email address is removed for privacy ***

*  Emails arrive and can be sent. Regular activities abound.

*  Intermittently throughout the day, I get a pop-up asking for the password for*** Email address is removed for privacy ***

Things I found and did:

*  The XZY.com account is old. Defunct. No longer used.

*  I went to Control Panel>>Mail>>Accounts and found 2 entries:  John. and JohnQ.

*  Both of these accounts point to the exact same Office 365 server. Their entries are identical.

*  I deleted JohnQ's account and left the primary account as-is.

*  I tested Outlook successfully -- but still get the pop-up

*  I went to Control Panel>>Profiles and created a new profile with the proper username and password.

*  I then removed the old profile.

*  Again, I tested Outlook successfully -- but still get the pop-up

How can I get rid of that older account's pop-up? I can't see it anywhere.

Why doesn't Outlook calendar have more Snooze options?

$

Since Outlook doesn't have multiple reminders ability for a single event, having a few more "before start" snooze options, would be really helpful, (maybe even more useful).

Often I like to set a reminder to 3 or 4 hours in advance, or even 1 or 2 days in advance, so I can prepare well in advance.

When the reminder pops up, Outlook currently only has 3 "before start" type Snooze options, which is ridiculously limiting:

5 mins before start

10 mins before start

15 mins before start

Outlook really needs to have more "before start" options, such as:

30 mins before start

45 mins before start

1 hour before start

2 hours before start

4 hours before start

1 day before start

Without these, I have to do mental math in order to determine how many hours and minutes from now the appointment is, then subtract how much time before that I would like to be reminded again, in order to use one of the many other options for "xx minutes or hours from now".

MS please consider adding the above additional "before start" options!  It would be extremely useful to many.

It's already a draw-back that Outlook doesn't have multiple reminders, like Google Calendar has and more and more phone apps have.

I urge others to chime in if you agree, for this to get considered by MS developers.

Custom form with RMS error

I designed a simple custom form in Outlook 2010 for our operators to fill out for phone messages.  Company policy requires that RMS be used for any email that contains personal information.  We have our own Exchange and RMS servers.  I can send the form back and forth with Rights Management enabled with no problem, but when I duplicate the form on my users' computers and they send the form with RMS enabled, the recipient gets the following error message:

"The custom form cannot be opened. Outlook will use an Outlook form instead. You cannot perform this action. Permission to this message is restricted."

I've tried installing the form identically on both PCs, clearing the form cache, renaming the FRMCACHE.dat file, and recreating the Outlook profile on both ends.  I see articles about problems with forms and problems with RMS, but I'm coming up blank for the combination, and I've run out of ideas of things to try.  Any ideas out there?

Thanks!

Hello

I have installed outlook 2013 on my computer and i use it for keeping my important notes as well, as these notes cannot be accessible from outlook.com so i thought let me make a folder in a email section and then move to the folder named "My Notes", so selected all my notes and click on move and then selected folder "My Notes" and then the new email window popped up, with all my notes as an attachments. so i thought oww i dont want all notes as an email i need as normal notes in other folder so i hit the escape and another window popped up asking "Want to save your changes?" i hit "No" and what i see is all my notes are gone....I dont know where, I tried to look for notes everywhere but cant find it.

Anybody have any idea where I can get back those my all notes ?

Please help me thanks

Opening E-mail attachments

I purchased a new Dell recently that came with Outlook 2013. I set up my user profile and Outlook works fine. I set up my wife's e-mail and for some reason she cannot open attachments. I get a message that my organization's policy don't allow opening of certain attachments. I haven't set any restrictions on opening attachments.

I've tried to get around this with no luck.  HELP!

Bounce-back error “550 Requested action not taken: mailbox unavailable” on active exchange mailboxes

$

Occasionally when mailing random people on our exchange server, the sender receives a bounce back that says: The e-mail account does not exist at the organization this message was sent to. Check the e-mail address, or contact the recipient directly to find out the correct address. < #5.1.1 SMTP; 550 Requested action not taken: mailbox unavailable>

Now the email is sent to the correct email address and usually after several minutes if the sender attempts to send the email again, it goes through just fine. At the time that this occurs, there are no errors in the event viewer and no logs in the exchange server. From all that I read on this error, everyone reports that it means the mailbox doesn't exist.

What could be causing this issue?

Office 365 impacting 32bit app printing

$

We just setup our business with Office 365. We use (and have been using for the last 15 years) a myself custom-written software based on an older Borland 32bit software to manage our purchasing/sales/inventory. I run Win8.1Pro, the rest of our systems run Win7Pro SP1.

We have all installed the Office suite including Outlook and Lync from the portal, and everything is fine on all systems except mine. After installing, when I either use the provided Print Setup / Print in the framework, or use the Print code on any form we use, it immediately causes the application to crash. I've tried reinstalling the database software, reinstalling print driver to no avail. I rollback using System Restore, and all is fine. The Win7 Pro systems are not experiencing this issue.

What in the Office 365 install is affecting the print sub system to cause this? Is there a known workaround or patch? I have been unable to find anything so far.

Thanks in advance

Outlook 2013 displays my name incorrectly

It worked correctly for several months and just now switched to a different name (my legal name but not the name I use for business). I cannot change it by going into outlook's account settings. I have an exchange server and my name is correct in that.

pst file works with outlook 2003 but hangs with outlook 2013

$

A few days ago I became the proud owner of Office 2013 Pro. As an XP user I finally wanted to migrate to a more recent setup. I have win 8.1, and installed Office 2013. I copied the pst file from office 2003 to win 8.1 and set up accounts. Outlook 2013 starts, gets a message or two, and then hangs. Closing the app with TaskManager and then restarting the app fails - I have to reboot the system and then Outlook 2013 starts and hangs again.

I installed a virtual machine (VMPlayer 7) and used the same .pst for both Outlook 2003 and 2013: 2003 works fine, 2013 hangs. Trying to use the Inbox repair tool does not work: It comes up with the following message: "An error has occurred which caused the scan to be stopped..."

Suggestions in KB2652320 don't work / cannot be used (such as Inbox repair tool).

I tried to delete the account but the program freezes before it takes the information. I tried to set a new .pst, but the program freezes before it takes the information.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

Outlook 2013 - Remove email status bar

Is there an option to remove the 'status' bar from bottom of emails?

When l say 'status' bar, I'm refering to the bar at bottom of emails that, when expanded contains email info on right, on left - what's new/mail/attachments/meetings.

(Bug) Emails getting marked as read when I drag them to another folder

$

I have had this issue on Windows 7 and Windows 8. When I receive a new email it is marked as unread, as expected. Then I click on the email and drag it to another folder. The email will always stay marked as read, as expected, until I go into the folder, click on the email, then change the selection. About an hour ago something happened and now whenever I receive an email I drag it to another folder and it marks it as read automatically before I even go into the folder. I had this issue a few years ago with Windows 7 and it just came up again with Windows 8.1. Both times it was Office 2010 and both times it just randomly started. The email account was an exchange email in both cases.

I have attempted to do the following:

- Restart computer

- System restore to an earlier point

- Open Outlook with clean views

- Repair outlook

- Removed email and re-added it

- On Windows 7 I even un-installed Outlook and re-installed it

None of the above attempts fixed the problem.

The problem is extremely annoying because I receive a lot of emails and I always organize them into folders before I read them, but now when I do that it marks them all as read so I am not even sure what folders I need to go in anymore. I have not changed my reading pane settings at all and they are still set as Mark item as read when selection changes and single key reading using space bar.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Get full Outlook functionality including email reminders

$

At work, I use Microsoft Exchange with Outlook 2013. This gives me full functionality of Outlook, most importantly for me, email reminders, tasks and integration between emails, calendars and tasks.

However, at home, I am currently using a private email address bought from Netregistry and hosted with Google Apps with IMAP to Outlook 2013. This creates problems with integration and functionality mentioned above.

I have been researching the possibility of switching out Google Apps for Exchange Online which I believe would solve the problem. Would this solve the problem? Also, is there any other way, I can get the above-mentioned functionality in Outlook 2013 without moving to Exchange?

Outlook 2013 E-mails in sent folder showing as draft (not sent) but they have been sent

I have Outlook 2013 365 ProPlus and have curious problem. I send emails fine but in the sent folder some messages show normal as they are sent but others aren't. I can still edit them and they have the send, pop out and discard options.

Any reason why this is happening and how I can fix it? It's not on every message but on several.
