How to turn off reading pane globally?

$

A user of of Outlook 2010 can turn the reader pane on or off for each individual folder and email address. Is there a way to turn the reading pane off (or on) across all folders and email addresses in a single step rather than going to each folder individually and turning each reading pane off?

Using PST file as local file in Outlook 2013 with Exchange instead of OST

I have installed Office 2013 and I am trying to set up my exchange account like I had it in Office 2010. In 2010, all my mail was moved into a local PST file and did not remain on the server. In 2010 you could do this by using the Change File button in the Mail setup. No such button exists in 2013.

As far as I can see, the only options are to use and OST file in cached mode, or just leave everything on the server. There seems to be no option to set up a PST file to receive the messages like in 2010. How can I do this?

This seems to be an Outlook question but I am not sure where to post in in this group of forums.

Outlook 2010 Suddenly Stopped or Slowed Down, Downloading & Displaying Either Text or Graphics

As of yesterday, 6/4/2014, my Outlook 2010 began to suddenly download texts in emails very, very slowly or performed the same thing with graphics, both from my allowed list or when I select the "Download Graphics."

I've not installed anything new, either from Microsoft or any other manufacturer. I'm running a Lenovo laptop with 6GB of RAM, 1 TB of HDD, on Windows 64-bit 8.1, using Desktop navigation.

Thank you,

Steve

Outlook 2013 Work Offline prompt

$

In Outlook 2010 I had Outlook prompt at start up as to whether to work offline or not. This would avoid the excessive wait for Outlook to try to connect to the Exchange server when I am not connected to the VPN or even the Internet. How can I get Outlook 2013 to prompt whether to connect or work offline?

Office 2010 Outlook Search and Indexing not working

$

Hello,

I'm hoping someone may be of assistance as this has been plaguing my outlook for some time now.

Problem:

When attempting to search for any emails via the search bar, it appears as if it is attempting to search, but I receive no results.

Windows 7 x64 Service Pack 1

Office 2010 Service Pack 2

Connected to Office 365 Exchange

  • In services Windows Search service is not running, though Automatic (Delayed Start is selected), I attempted starting the service but it returned with an error saying it started and then stopped.
  • In Outlook options > Search > Indexing Options > the service is shown as "Indexing is not Running" and the list of indexed folders is empty. Everything else is grayed out except "Advance Tab" which only has one button available called "Rebuild", everything else is grayed out.

I am aware this question was asked a few years back but the linked articles referenced are no longer working.

Though I seem to be having a similar problem and any assistance and new suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Office 365 Professional: Unable to connect to Exchange Server

Hi I have Office home 365. I am trying to connect to an exchange server. I currently access one of four email addresses through Outlook Web App, which is very limiting. All my others work with Outlook proper. I haven't got POP3 or IMAP options with this server.

The account setup options are not asking me for the information I'm expecting to give, and don't properly match those given in the help for Outlook. eventually I found  instructions in Outlook Web App but they say:

"Applies to: Office 365 for professionals and small businesses, Office 365 for enterprises, Microsoft Exchange, Live@edu"

Nothing about 365 home.

Is 365 Home hobbled so it won't work with an Exchange server?

Outlook 2010: Contact information shows Presence Unknown

For some reason, when I place the cursor on the name of someone from whom I've received an email or the other names on the email, instead of their contact information, or at least their email address, I get a Presence Unknown and there is now a small box in front of their name.

Outlook 2013 strange behaviour Sending and something else

$

Hi All,

Yesterday, as usual went into Outlook 2013 to sync my emails from my Live.com account. Until yesterday, Outlook has worked flawlessly and been a joy to work with.

I got my emails sync'ed and after a few moments, sent some info out thru Bcc. I send thru Bcc very rarely, but cant say I've seen this behaviour before. A few moments later, the email I sent out previously, arrived in my inbox. Having thought  might have sent the email incorrectly, went to the sent items and noticed that the 2 emails I had put in the bcc field where not there, but my own was in the To field. I sent out a few emails to an alternate account, some thru Bcc, Cc and To and all kept coming back, but simultanously also going to their destinations.

I tried a repair on the account, but half way thru, got a error message saying it couldn't connect to the url.

Today, after having read a few articles in the forums, I enabled logging and saw some interesting stuff, such as:

From the OPMLog.log

2014.06.05 20:48:21 <<<< Logging Started (level is LTF_TRACE) >>>>
2014.06.05 20:48:21 *** Email address is removed for privacy ***: Synch operation started (flags = 00000031)
2014.06.05 20:48:21 *** Email address is removed for privacy ***: StartImport(flags = 00000000, max msg = ffffffff): full items
2014.06.05 20:48:21 *** Email address is removed for privacy ***: EnsureProtoInfo: Error getting remote URL (hr = 0x80070057)
2014.06.05 20:48:21 *** Email address is removed for privacy ***: Unable to parse URL for protocol handler:
2014.06.05 20:48:21 *** Email address is removed for privacy ***: UploadItems: 0 messages to send
2014.06.05 20:48:21 *** Email address is removed for privacy ***: Synch operation completed
2014.06.05 20:50:59 Resource manager terminated

One of the many articles, suggested deleting the old profile and creating a new one, which I did and the Live account was setup succesfully.

Opened Outlook again (logging still enabled) and sent an email thru Bcc...same email came back and the sent email had no indication of being sent thru Bcc, instead having my email in the To as if I was sending something to myself.

The OPMLog.log, shows the sending and syncing of this specific email:

2014.06.05 20:54:30 <<<< Logging Started (level is LTF_TRACE) >>>>
2014.06.05 20:54:30 *** Email address is removed for privacy ***: Synch operation started (flags = 00000031)
2014.06.05 20:54:30 *** Email address is removed for privacy ***: StartImport(flags = 00000000, max msg = ffffffff): full items
2014.06.05 20:54:30 *** Email address is removed for privacy ***: EnsureProtoInfo: Error getting remote URL (hr = 0x80070057)
2014.06.05 20:54:30 *** Email address is removed for privacy ***: Unable to parse URL for protocol handler:
2014.06.05 20:54:30 *** Email address is removed for privacy ***: UploadItems: 0 messages to send
2014.06.05 20:54:30 *** Email address is removed for privacy ***: Synch operation completed
2014.06.05 20:55:44 *** Email address is removed for privacy ***: Synch operation started (flags = 00000001)
2014.06.05 20:55:44 *** Email address is removed for privacy ***: UploadItems: 1 messages to send
2014.06.05 20:55:46 *** Email address is removed for privacy ***: ReportStatus: RSF_COMPLETED, hr = 0x00000000
2014.06.05 20:55:46 *** Email address is removed for privacy ***: Synch operation completed
2014.06.05 20:56:27 Resource manager terminated

Conclusion:

If I send an email thru Bcc only, the email comes back to me, but also goes to destination, I dont see the Bcc destinations in my sent email, unless I view the properties of the email.

If I send an email with an address in the To and Bcc field, it goes to the To and Bcc destination and doesn't come back to me.

This behaviour does not happen when using the Outlook.com webmail or Windows Live Mail 2012. The Bcc destination is visible in the sent emails from either Outlook.com or Windows Live Mail 2012.

Is this sending of Bcc only email thru Outlook 2013 and an email coming back to me...a feature or something not working properly ?

My reference to "Something else..." is because of the >Unable to parse URL for protocol handler< in the log.

Any ideas???

Thank you!!!

I need to visit Outlook 2013 Help, but I see a message that the Help Viewer is not available.

Other Office 2013 program Help files appear to function.

I have run a full Online Office 2013 Repair, but this makes no difference.

Anybody have an idea, please

Outlook: "allow this file to have contents indexed in addition to file properties" attribute was always changed!

Hi there,

Did you ever meet this question,

My outlook: 2013 en 64-bit, the .pst file located in D:\Mail,

My computer: Window 7, en, 64-bit,

There are lots of emails in the mail box, I need to use outlook search function,

But I have to change the attributes of the Outlook.pst file every time I restart my computer,

The detail attribute is :

Outlook.pst--Properties--General--Advanced--"allow this file to have contents indexed in addition to file properties"

Every time I restart the computer, the check mark was gone, I have to re-check again to enable outlook to search.

How can I fix this issue?

Thanks

Outlook cannot access mail server

I have seen a number of posts about Outlook not connecting to the Internet and/or mail servers, but so far nothing that anyone has suggested has helped. Even the Dell technical support representatives are uable to resolve the issue after many hours of assistance.

It is clear that this is more than simply the account settings, because neither of my email accounts will work. Something deeper in the system is preventing Outlook from accessing any mail server, and no one seems able to resolve the issue.  I have spent many, many hours on the phone with various support representatives who were unable to resolve the issue, not even after going into the Registry and attempting to fix it.

If Outlook 2013 is unable to work and no one can solve the problem, then it makes me wonder why this application is even being sold to users. I will try one more time to contact someone at Microsoft, but if even THEY are unable to resolve it, then my only conclusion is that Outlook in Office 2013 has a fatal flaw that simply cannot be fixed. If that is the case, then Outlook 2013 should be taken off the shelf.

Hi,

My question is how can I use office 365 for unlimited number of custom domains under one account?

for example: before outlook supported adding any number of domains with 50 emails for each domain.

What office 365 package supports unlimited domains under on main account?

Thanks

Garbled email attached to old message

I noticed this morning, Outlook 2010 was reporting a new message in my "Abe Books" folder. There was nothing there for today's date, so I scrolled down and found a new message dated 14th May. When I opened it, it was a message I had received that date but, attached to it, was a long message from Amazon. This was shown complete with message headers and with all images shown as long strings of text characters.

I have received another email from Amazon which has been placed correctly in my "Amazon" folder.

A similar problem occurred a couple of weeks ago when an incoming email was attached to one received six days earlier. When I asked the sender to send it again, the second copy was also attached to the same old email. Eventually, after deleting the original old email and the two corrupt copies generated, a third attempt was received successfully.

This does not happen often enough for me to check Webmail, but the fact that the corrupted emails are attaching themselves to existing messages suggests that the corruption is not occurring with my ISP and is not caused by transmission errors.

Added:

The message from Amazon attached to the Abe Books message wasn't a new message at all - it was sent on 15th May. The new message in the Amazon folder is reported by Outlookas having been sent on 15th May but the header is shown in plain text and gives the date as 6th June.

I have now apparently received a message from Telegraph Box Office which was actually sent on 14th May and has a garbled message from Amazon sent on 15th May attached to it. This is reported by Outlook as a new message from Telegraph Box Office.

I was recommended to delete my Office files (Access and Outlook) and re-download them as the Outook programme would not open - hanging on Processing.  My Access now programme works as it should but the Outlook programme still will not open and is hanging on Processing.

What should I do?

Office 365 email wont auto delete on the webmail/server after several specified days

Hi readers,

I am current user of Microsoft Office 365 Home Premium and Windows 7 Pro.

On the outlook setting I tick the "Leave a copy of messages on the server", and tick "remove from server after 25 days" and also I tick "remove from server when deleted from 'Deleted Items'. " However my emails on webmail and server are not auto delete after 25 days. This make my webmail full and keep notify inbox were full. I cant delete every single email since I received hundred mails per day.

Currently using POP/SMTP (I have to refuse using IMAP) . There is no problem when I apply the same setting for other previous Office product at other pc.

Please advise. Thanks

BCM for Outlook 2013 no longer loads automaticallly - outlook crashes when opening BCM contacts after add in is enabled

$

I have a brand new computer preloaded with windows 8.1.

I bought the latest Office Home and Business 2013 suite to go with it and followed the recommendations to complete a 32 bit install.

I found the right BCM download and successfully completed install.

I set about creating my database importing contacts from a CSV, so far so good, I then set about creating contacts from my LinkedIn contacts.

My contact database was approaching 800 records and all worked fine.

The point of change as I recall was when I inadvertently created a BCM contact from an open LinkedIn email. It had automatically populated some of the fields incorrectly, which I corrected and then saved.  This contact was searchable however it had seemingly merged with a totally unrelated contact and then it all went to sh1t.

Now BCM will not load automatically when I start Outlook 2013. I was able to get a days work out of it yesterday by activating first the loading add-in and then just the normal BCM add-in.

My data seems to have remained intact and I backed it up last night; but since restarting the computer today, BCM will still only load if I activate the add-ins but then Outlook will immediately crash when I begin to use the system in any of the interfaces?

Completely baffled, very disappointed, costing me a lot of time and money!

Can anybody please help?

Fixes already tried:

Uninstall and reinstall BCM

Uninstall BCM, run repair for Office 2013 then reinstall BCM

Uninstall Chart controls and reinstall new download

This is very urgent for me as a new start up business. Hope to hear soon.
